Global Design. Internationale Perspektiven und individuelle Konzepte

Globalization and its effects on all areas of society have been discussed with particular intensity for some time now. But one interesting and neglected issue is the question of how globalization affects design. This book illustrates how in the 1970s the globalized world began manifesting itself in design and how design has developed in a globalized world. Starting from global networking in the areas of communication, mobility, production, trade, and capital, the book examines the following topics: globalization in relation to regionalism, the container as a fundamental element of globalization, cultural transfers, and, finally, global trends, their origins, and their spread. Artistic contributions throughout the book explore particular phenomena of globalization.

Essays by Beatriz Colomina, OMA/Reinier de Graaf, Jeroen van Rooijen, Angeli Sachs, Petra Steinberger, Deyan Sudjic, and Philip Ursprung.

Artistic contributions by Thomas Demand, Hadassah Emmerich, Didier Faustino, Peter Fischli/David Weiss, Armin Linke, J. MAYER H., Timm Rautert, and Allan Sekula.
